We are a married couple from Germany and have been in Hebron (Palestine) for 3 months: October, November and December 2025. We were guests in the house of Issa Amro and „Youth Against Settlements“. To report about our experiences and the situation there, we made a slideshow, that is based on this homepage, where we documented our stay in Hebron as part of the documentation of our sabbatical year.
Except for this article this homepage is in geman, but there are translation tools out there.
Attacks on house
In October and November 2025 there were more than half a dozen serious attacks on our house, our palestinean friends and ourselves. If you count a single thrown stone as an attack, there was an attack nearly every day.
In our slideshow we concentrate on the 4 worst and best documented attacks.
1) 7th October: Detention & Beating Up
Two soldiers trespass, enter our terrace, detain Mohammad Natschi, beat him for 6-7 hours in the military base, and leave him on the street for the ambulance to pick him up.

2) 8th October: Nightattack
Nightattack by Settlers and at least one Soldier on duty.
The most interesting videos are the 4th and the 5th one.
On the 4th video the soldier enters the frame in second 25.

3) 29th November: Arson Attack
Three settlers climbed on our roof, with a metal cutter and a canister of fuel to burn down our house. They were acting under a soldiers nose, who didn´t intervene.

4) 30th November: Hail of Rocks
Settlers let a hail of rocks go down on our house and the terrace. The guarding soldier is standing between them, not intervening.

Situation in the Ghost Town Hebron
To document the situation in the Ghost Town, that the Israeli Army created around the illegal settlements in the city centre of Hebron, we essentially rely on two walks we made.
1) 7th December 2025: Tour with German Viceconsul
The German Viceconsul made a solidarity visit at our house. Under his diplomatic protection we were able to take a walk and document the situation on and around Shuhada Street.

2) 17th December 2017: Arrival in Hebron
Eight years ago we were in Hebron for about 6 weeks. Back then the situation was more relaxed. So we were able document, how one checkpoint doesn’t let an ambulance through, how settler kids harass palestinean schoollkids at another checkpoint and so on.
(Everything documented in that article is from our first afternoon in Hebron!)

Visit Palestine
If you want to travel to Palestine, you should first make up your mind! How long do you want to stay there? What you want to achieve?
1) Learn about the Situation & Bear Witness
Two weeks are enough time for thist.
If you also want to include a religious pilgrimage or touristic activities like snorkling in the red sea or hiking, we suggest to ad more time.
More Information for this! (Partly outdated!)
2) Protective Presence
You should have at least one month time for this.
In Palestine you do have a superpower: You do have civil rights! Something the Palestineans do not have. They are subject to military law. You are subject to civil law. You can’t be imprisoned without charge! Attacking you is an international incident.
Therefore you can protect the palestineans around you by simply beeing present. By sleeping in there houses and accompanying them.
3) Olive Harvest
Two Weeks (or more) in October and November.
Each year the Olive Harvest is a time of increased violence by settlers and the israeli state. Settlers and Soldiers try to make it impossible for palestinean farmers, to harverst their olives. If the palestineans fail to harvest in three consecutive years, they lose their land, and the Israeli state hands it over to the settlers.
